Friday is here and my two weeks off begin! Because my last workout was a couple days ago, I was was hoping that I could do a long walk today with my nordic walking sticks. Unfortunately the weather turned sour and I woke up to rain. There is something in me that just detests going outside in the rain. The cold, the rain and the gray skies just don’t inspire me to head out the door. Now my last work out looked something like this:
It was so sunny, warm and gorgeous just two days ago! Chi is now a bit older so he can’t take much heat anymore. Moderate, sunny with cool wind days is about all he can take nowadays. Last Summer he had a really hard time going on for longer than a 20 minute walk. I ended up carrying him if we walked a little longer because he would just throw himself on any left over puddle to cool off. He really scared me and I am now more vigilant. If I plan on a long walk he will be staying home from now on.
Last year I jogged this long road. It was a massive thing for me. I was at my heaviest weight and I was dying! My joints were at their limit, my chest was burning and my heart wanted to leap out of my chest. But I told myself I had to do it. I said to this road “I’m gonna kick your a**!” and I kid you not. I huffed and puffed but I jogged it down to the next town and even managed to jog back half way and speed walk the rest. It isn’t very long. Perhaps a little over 1,5km or so. But for me it might as well have been a 5K! Every time I come this way, I am reminded of this and it makes me proud. A few of the things that motivate me to continue on my journey.
This is the beautiful (man made) lake at the park where I normally do my workouts. Even though the water is still freezing cold there were already sunbathers laying out on the beach and grass areas. Some were even swimming in there already! It made me shiver just looking at them. Though I have seen some crazy folks in there in the middle of Winter so it shouldn’t surprise me. I can’t wait for more days like these where I can thoroughly enjoy my outdoor workouts. I want to also try getting in the water at some point. Maybe not to swim but to at least soak my feet after a long hot walk.
As far as how my diet is going lately I think I am doing quite well. Here is a fruit snack I had earlier which was absolutely delicious. The pineapple was very ripe, though it wasn’t as sweet as it could have been. My tongue is a big scalded now. The only drawback when eating fresh pineapple I suppose.
This was a good portion of fresh pineapple – 310 grams and it was about 156 calories. Been drinking tons of water as well and maybe I should also go and try to do an indoor workout. I can’t decide if I want to do the Zumba, step aerobics or some wii sports. Better be something because I have been sitting most of the day. Sunday is my official weigh-in and I want it to be a good number. Until next time friends..
Cheers!
Kari
